At NOMAD, we take pride in our formulation practices. Every ingredient we select for our products carries a rating of 1 - 3 on the Environmental Working Groups website. Are you familiar with the EWG? The Environmental Working Group is a nonprofit, American activist group that specializes in research and advocacy in the areas of agricultural subsidies, toxic chemicals, drinking water pollutants and corporate accountability.

Their Skin Deep Cosmetic Database rates all chemicals with a 1-10 low, moderate, or high hazard score. The higher the score, the higher the risk of skin irritants, respiratory & endocrine system issues, corrosive and known carcinogenic chemicals (i.e. cancer-causing).

Here is an AMAZING article written by the NY Times to help inform you further on the lack of laws & regulations of cosmetic products. This is kind of scary, and a huge reason we formulate how we do!

"Cosmetics Safety Needs a Makeover"

Thousands of chemicals, in billions of dollars worth of products, are being governed by regulations that haven’t been updated in decades.
